Pride and Prejudice and Zombies は本当によく売れているようで、Amazon.comの書籍総合ランキングではいまだに４２位につけてます。秋には豪華本のハードカバーまで出るみたいだし。

弱小出版社Quirkによる異例のスマッシュ・ヒットを受けて、次々と「こんなのはどうだ」という売り込みが殺到しているそうです。たいていはP&P&Zのパターンを踏襲していて、こんな感じ。

①　学生時代に誰もが読んでいるであろう古典文学を取りあげる。
②　不適切な要素を書き加える（海賊、猿、カニバリズム、等々）。
③　いかしたタイトルをつける。

とはいえ古典作品といっても著作権の問題があるので、アメリカで１９２３年以前に出版されたものじゃないといけない。チャールズ・ディケンズならいいけど、ウィリアム・フォークナーはダメなわけ。この制限のために使えない企画がたくさんあったんだけど、タイトルだけはホントにいかしてるから公開しちゃおう……
